There are over 113 Cannabinoids in the cannabis plant, of which CBD is just one. Each Cannabionide has its own specific properties, which means that there are different active compounds in a cannabis plant. CBD stands for cannabidiol and is the most common active substance (cannabinoid), which is extracted from the cannabis plant.

 

THC is the abbreviation for delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol, which is also one of the most common active cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. The two cannabinoids are the most well-known cannabinoids. However, they are two very different active compounds, and therefore they give different effects when ingested.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THC AND CBD

The big difference between CBD and THC cannabin oils is that CBD is non-psychoactive, and one will therefore not get skewed or high from consuming CBD products, where THC has a psychoactive effect and is mainly the substance in cannabis that makes us skeptical .

One extracts CBD and HTC, through the decarboxylation process of CBDa and THCa.

Fresh hemp plants contain a natural acid and “Acid” is the A in CBDa, CBDa is in other words the acid-based precursor of CBD, therefore fresh hemp plants contain mostly CBDa and only a little CBD. Only through the drying and heating process also known as decarboxylation, a number of chemical processes take place where CBDa is converted to CBD.

And the same acid principle applies to THCa, where HTC is only found in small amounts in the fresh hemp plant, where decarboxylation of HTCa converts to HTC. THCa is not a non-psychoactive cannabinoid it is only through the decarboxylation process that THCa converts to a hydrocarbon which is THC.

The Decarboxylation process itself is a description of methods that activate chemicals in the cannabis plant as written above this process takes place either through drying or a heating process of the plant which alter the compounds found in the plant. The process is important for the compounds in cannabis to bind to cannabinoid receptors more effectively.
